Our Safe Spaces approach

Our approach to ‘Safe Spaces’ aims to as far as is possible ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment at all WiRL social and in person events and outlines our approach to identifying and, where possible, excluding individuals whose behaviour is considered as harassment or being predatory, whether witnessed first hand or credibly reported and applies to all people taking part in WiRL events irrespective of gender.
We understand harassment to be defined under the Equality Act 2010 and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 where harassment is generally defined as unwanted conduct that violates a person's dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment. This unwanted conduct can be related to a protected characteristic (like race, gender, sexual orientation) and has the purpose or effect of violating dignity or creating a hostile environment and could cause a person to fear violence or cause distress or alarm.
In the event you feel that someone has displayed these behaviours at a WiRL event or there is first hand, or credible evidence of these behaviours elsewhere please get in contact with (NAMES) at WiRL to discuss.
These are part of our core values and we expect all participants in our events to subscribe to ensuring a safe space for all.
